AntiVirus: If McAfee Anti-Virus
software is installed on the desktop/workstation machine, it must be a minimum
of Version 8. Regardless of which
Anti-Virus vendor or product is used, the following directories (and all

In Vista :
\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\eScription\EditScriptMT
In Windows XP: \Documents and
Settings\<username>\Application Data\eScription\EditScriptMT
eScription software has known conflicts with some antivirus
software that may affect a user's ability to work. There is most likely a conflict on your
computer if you have seen the following message while using EditScript MT :
To assist
all eScription users we have provided the following instructions for excluding
directories from being scanned by five popular antivirus utilities. We recommend that you follow these guides
closely if you have encountered this error while using EditScript MT.
Firewalls: If a hardware-based
firewall is in use, it must be configured to allow access
to www.escription.com
via ports 80 (http) and 443 (https). If a software firewall is installed, the
same ports will need to be given access. In addition, software-based firewalls
may need to be configured to allow all executables located in the EditScript MT
installation directory to have Internet access.
Microsoft: .NET 2.0 SP1(minimum)
The .NET
framework can easily be downloaded online. The .Net Framework helps to ensure
the foot pedal will work correctly and is a required component for EditScript MT. Check the Add/Remove Programs tab under the Control Panel to see if you have the .Net Framework.
Installing EditScript MT 8 & 9 on Windows Vista
Microsoft has implemented a new file structure in the latest
release of the Windows Operating System, Vista . In the new file structure, the EditScript MT
installer will be downloaded as a hidden file and kept in a directory that may
be unfamiliar to most users. To
compensate for this there is a slightly different installation process outlined
below:
1. Log in to www.eScription.com
using the Institution that you work for and the EditScript username and
password provided by your transcription manager.
2. Navigate to the "MT" section and
then select software downloads. Click on
the link for the most recent version of EditScript and save the installer to
your computer.
3. In order to locate this file you will need to
configure Windows to show hidden files.
Enter the Control Panel by opening the Start Menu and selecting the
appropriate menu option. Select the
Classic View option (if available) in the left margin of the window.
4. Double click on the icon labeled "Folder
Options" and navigate to the "View" tab.
5. Under the Hidden files and folders section
select the radio button labeled "Show hidden files and folders."
6. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox
labeled "Hide extension for known file types" and the checkbox
labeled "Hide protected operating system files." When this is complete the Folder Options
screen should look similar to the following image.
7. At this time you should be able to locate the
installer in the directory listed below:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\eScription\EditScriptMT
8. Run the installer (ESInst.exe).
At
this point the installer should install EditScript
MT. If you encounter any issue following these
instructions please contact your transcription manger for further assistance.
